Get to know Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. Wade Hamilton, who serves patients in Lewiston, Maine.

Well-versed in the field of pediatric cardiology, Dr. Hamilton is affiliated with Central Maine Medical Center.

The Central Maine Medical Center is a hospital located at 300 Main Street in the city of Lewiston, Maine. It serves most of Androscoggin County, including Lewiston and Auburn, Maine and various small and medium-sized communities. It is designated as a trauma center.

A 1973 graduate of the Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Hamilton went on to perform his residency in pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1976. He followed this up with a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Children’s Hospital/Boston Medical Center from 1976 until 1978.

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents, while cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart as well as some parts of the circulatory system. Pediatric cardiologists specialize in diagnosing and treating heart problems in children. In those children who might need heart surgery, pediatric cardiologists work closely with pediatric heart surgeons to determine the best treatments and interventions.

With over 50 years of experience, Dr. Hamilton has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2014), On-Time Doctor Award (2014), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014).
